Chilean History and Politics

It is next to impossible to engage effectively with Chilean culture without understanding some basic elements of Chile's political history. A great introduction to the topic can be found in this hour-long lecture by Daniel Sparler, a Humanities and Language teacher at The Northwest School in Seattle, Washington.  Sparler gave this lecture preceding a theater production of Isabel Allende's The House of the Spirits to provide his students the necessary background to understand the play.

Another video that gives insight into some of the dark shadows of Chile's past is a documentary on Colonia Dignidad.
