Foods and drinks we might encounter

Today's pre-departure assignment focuses on the food and drinks of Chile.  We will be viewing the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown episode focusing on Chile and a couple of other short videos, one on the Chorrillana and another on Chilean wines.

Discussion Board Entry 2 (Or you can make this a Blog Post if you prefer):

Watch the Anthony Bourdain episode linked above and one of the other two videos.

For this assignment describe what you found surprising about the food and drinks that you learned about in the videos. Explain what foods and/or drinks you look forward to trying in Chile and which ones you are fairly certain you will not try and why.  Describe where you are willing to venture outside your comfort zone food-wise and where your limits are. Due date 12/20

First Assignments

With just 9 days before we leave we have to hit the ground running in terms of our coursework. There's a lot of work to do this week, but that is because we want to be well-prepared for experiences once we arrive in Santiago. Some of the most important parts of our course will happen in this week before we leave. By the end of the day on Monday please complete the following assignments. Further explanation of each topic and the links to videos and readings are available in the Course Sections area of this blog.

For the Discussion board you are responsible both for posting your own entry and for responding in a thoughtful way to one of your peers' entries.

Blog entry #1: For this assignment, create your blog site and make your first post about your pre-departure feelings. Be sure to include your feelings about traveling to a country where you either do not speak the language or do not speak the language fluently.  Include also some reaction to the videos that you viewed on the language of Chile. Due date 12/19
